After the Velvet Revolution in 1989 a group of people in Reading, Berkshire, came together to learn more about the languages, culture, heritage and traditions of the Czech and Slovak Republics.

At first the group's members either came from Czech or Slovak families or had an interest in and love of the countries. Soon we were joined by Czech and Slovak born students and au pairs, and by people who were putting down deeper roots here.

We meet several times a year and have a very varied programme of events. Over the years these have included talks about literature, puppetry and beer, displays of traditional dancing, restaurant visits and karaoke nights.

We are always delighted to see new faces. There is no membership fee, so whether you're Czech, Slovak, British or any other nationality, just come along to one of our meetings and you'll be part of the Circle!
