‘Czech Day’ at The Lock Stock and Barrel pub in Newbury on Thursday 11th October 2012

On Thursday 11th October The Lock Stock and Barrel pub in Newbury is running a one-off  ‘Czech Day’ with inspired menu:


Beef Consommé with chicken and pig’s liver balls and handmade noodles

Hovězí vývar s játrovými knedlíčky

Sour cream soup with wild mushrooms and dill finished with a poached egg


Pork Sausages marinated in an onion and chilli vinegar



Roast Pork belly served with potato dumplings and sauerkraut

Vepřo- knedlo- zelo

Beef goulash accompanied by bread dumplings

Gulás, houskové knedlíky

Deep fried Carp served with a potato salad

Smažený kapr


Blueberry Pie

Borůvkový koláč

Bread and Butter Pudding


Scones with plum jam

 Tvarohovo-povidlové koláče

All food preparation and service for this event will be overseen by a native Czech chef. The pricing around £13.95 for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 courses.

The pub normally serves food from 12pm until 9pm but as this is only happening once the service will run later into the evening. The pub itself is situated alongside the Kennet and Avon canal and River Kennet in Newbury town centre.
